Quick Bread Bio: Hightide is the second child of Dumbbell and Rainbow Dash, and the only earth pony in a pegasus family. A clever and curious colt who always tries his best to do his mother proud.

Personality: Hightide believes he is a cool cool cucumber when in reality he is a highly emotional character. Slow to anger but pretty quick to hysterics. Upon first meeting him, many ponies are somewhat unnerved by his intense pinprick eyes and sharp teeth, not knowing that these physical traits reflect poorly on his friendly and somewhat timid personality. He doesn’t bask in fear, but Hightide has a strong danger sense, being small for a stallion and the weakest of his family, Hightide will likely dodge a fight than jump directly into it. Much unlike his older sister. His younger sister too by the way. He is a bit dumb academic wise but quick-witted when faced with real world situational problems that don’t require booksmarts. It’s his quick thinking that has saved him and his friends many a time.  Hightide also exhibits a nack for fixing broken things but being a mechanic isn’t his calling.

When he was younger, Hightide was terrible at lying and creating believable fabrications. As he aged though, his ability to lie and mislead improved. He thinks this might be the kelpie side of him growing in prominence. He likes to spend a lot of time around water, whether it be ponyville’s lake, river, or even the less appealing marshes. He is an excellent swimmer and can hold his breath for a near 20 minutes. Once he mastered his transformation ability, the issue of holding breath no longer remains a concern.

Hightide likes to eat meat, which is a bit of a taboo in most areas of Equestria, though fish is okay it is never sold in the Ponyville markets so he has to catch them himself.

Hobbies: Swimming in the coral reef and surfing long into the evening. Turning tomorrow into yesterday. He aspires to be a cartographer and chart those hidden corners of the world only fools dare to go.

Relationships:

- Hightide loves both of his parents but he has an especially close relationship with his father. Dumbbell is always there to help Hightide understand the less savory parts about himself. The parts that sometimes scare him more than he is willing to admit.  They spend a lot of time out on the water, either fishing, or swimming, they've even built a sailboat or two. The necklace he wears is from his grandfather and it is very important to both of them.

- Hightide sometimes sorely wishes he could fly, thinking he somehow got the worst deal in the genetic lottery when he came out an earth pony. Not because of some lack in being an earth pony, but because he feels he let Rainbow Dash down. Hightide subconsciously thinks this is why his parents went for a third child. Scootaloo will bop him on the head every once in awhile, to remind him that that is nonsense.

- Ghajini (Gaz) is probably the most standoffish person Hightide has ever known, but being his technical foster brother, Hightide tries his  best to help Ghajini adjust to life in Ponyville. At first the griffon would have none of it but  over time the magic of friendship prevails  and in the end they become the best of friends. Both of them share some levels of internalized “I’m not good enough for my mom” angst. But Hightide knows his problems don’t matter nearly as much as the ones Ghajini faces.

- Hickory Smoke likes to tease Hightide since he’s so easy to scare. But Hightide knows that Hickory Smoke doesn't know how to swim and is creeped out by fish. There have been several times the Apple household has woken up to the high pitched screams of Hickory discovering a smelly fish head on his pillow.

- Hightide’s biggest bully is probably his younger sister, Kite Runner. But he takes her insults in jest. Though sometimes she does hurt his feelings.

- Hightide along with Ollie Airwalk and Tuff Cookie make up the dork squad 2.0. Where upon they skate around town, or at least attempt to in Hightide’s case and try to be cool in a cheesy Rocket Power sort of way. But they crash a lot and miss every single time they try to throw garbage into trash can. So they are all essentially “The Squids”
